Vigilance nabs dy edu officer, one other for taking Rs.1l bribe
Dehradun, April 2 -- The state vigilance department on Wednesday arrested a deputy eduction officer and another accused while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh in connection with clearance of reimbursement bills under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, officials aware of the matter said. According to officials, the trap team of the vigilance (Dehradun sector) arrested Dhanveer Singh Bisht, deputy education officer and in-charge block education officer, Doiwala, along with Dalanwala resident Pushpanjali Sharma, who owns a private school in Gumaniwala, Rishikesh.
They were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a complainant, police added. According to a release by the vigilance department, the bribe was allegedly demanded for clearing reimbursement bills related to students studying under the RTE Act at the Ganga Valley Junior High School in Rishikesh. A case has been registered under Section 7 (offence relating to public servant being bribed) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), officials added....
