VARANASI, Oct. 2 -- The Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) has recorded almost four times increase in its revenue totalling Rs.500 crore between November 2025 and September 2026, the highest-ever earned in the history of the authority. Prior to this, the authority's annual revenue had been approximately Rs.120 crore, said officials. Varanasi Development Authority vice chairman Purna Borah stated, "Our objective is to make VDA financially self-reliant so that infrastructure development and civic amenities in Varanasi can be given a new momentum. I appeal to every citizen whose building map has not yet been approved to come forward and get their building regularised. This will secure their property and also contribute to the planned development of the city." With a strong revenue base and a series of proposed township projects, the VDA is moving forward with great expectations. The additional revenue generated by the VDA will be directly utilised for development works in the city. During the current financial year, VDA will invest Rs.200 crore in infrastructure development projects....
