VB-G RAM G replaces MGNREGA, offers 125 days of rural employment
PRAYAGRAJ, July 3 -- Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday announced the rollout of the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural), popularly known as VB-G RAM-G, which replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) programme in official records.
Addressing the district-level launch programme at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) auditorium, Maurya said the new scheme would provide 125 days of employment annually, up from the previous 100 days under MGNREGA.
The daily wage has also been increased from Rs 252 to Rs 300.
According to the Dy CM, workers' wages will now be credited to their bank accounts within seven days, compared to the earlier payment cycle of around 15 days.
He said the new system incorporates safeguards aimed at reducing leakages and improving transparency in fund disbursement.
Keshav Prasad Maurya said the scheme is aligned with the broader objectives of building a "Viksit Bharat" and "Viksit Uttar Pradesh", with a focus on transforming gram sabhas into "Viksit Gram Sabhas."
The MGNREGA programme seeks to generate sustainable rural employment, conserve natural resources, strengthen Gram Panchayat development plans, promote participation of youth, women and economically weaker sections, and create durable community assets....
