VARANASI, June 13 -- In a significant move to enhance passenger experience and curb noise pollution, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is set to become a "silent airport" starting this August. The initiative will eliminate routine flight announcements throughout the terminal, replacing them with a modernised, digital-first communication system. Under the new operational protocol, passengers will receive real-time updates via a newly installed network of 52 Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS). This computer-controlled infrastructure is designed to align the airport with international aviation standards. The FIDS network will provide instant, comprehensive data, including arrival and departure schedules, gate assignments, check-in counter details, and flight origins.
