Lucknow, Sept. 28 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that 70% of financial approvals be issued within the next two months and at least 60% of the total allocated budget for the financial year 2026-27 be spent during the same period, according to a state government press statement. Charing a review meeting in the presence of finance minister Suresh Khanna, he said that as the first half of the financial year is coming to an end, immediate improvements should be made in departments where budget expenditures are not meeting the expected pace. The meeting reviewed the work and financial progress of 30 major departments with the highest budgets in the state. He directed the finance minister to meet departmental ministers regularly for a review of budget expenditures. Departments facing obstacles to approvals or expenditure due to policy, procedural, or technical reasons should immediately resolve them, he added. The chief minister also stressed the need to improve the credit-deposit ratio of banks to strengthen the state's rural economy. He stated that every eligible farmer should receive the benefits of a Kisan Credit Card. He also directed the development of events such as the "Rural Credit Conclave" to increase credit availability in rural areas and make the banking system more effective. He directed the MSME department to brand and widely promote the state's GI-tagged products. He urged effective strategies to promote Uttar Pradesh's local products to the national and global markets. During the review of centrally sponsored schemes, the chief minister stated effective coordination should be established at the departmental level for schemes receiving Central government funds. He urged departmental ministers to directly communicate with the relevant Union ministers to resolve issues related to pending funds and approvals, so that the pace of centrally funded schemes is not affected The chief minister directed all department heads and senior officials to regularly review the progress of development projects in the field and to immediately improve areas where progress is slow. He urged departments to meet their targets on time during the remaining fiscal year. There will be no shortage of funds for development and public welfare schemes, but ensuring effective, transparent, and timely use of the available budget is the responsibility of the concerned departments, he added. In a department-wise review, it was found that the handloom and textiles department has spent 54% of its budget. Against a budget of Rs.82,245.68 crore for the basic education department, approvals for Rs.65,982.04 crore, representing 80.2%, have been issued, and expenditure of Rs.31,718.92 crore has been incurred. Against a budget of Rs.43,891.37 crore for the home department, approvals for Rs.40,502.28 crore, representing 92.2% have been issued, and expenditures of Rs.14,712.68 crore have been incurred. In the public works department, against a budget of Rs.45,270.69 crore, approvals worth Rs.27,375.91 crore, i.e. 60.5% have been issued and an expenditure of Rs.14,178.60 crore has been incurred. In the medical health and family welfare department, against a budget of Rs.39,906.52 crore, financial approvals worth Rs.25,557.48 crore, i.e. 64%, have been issued and expenditure of Rs.10,286.50 crore has been incurred....
