UPTET-2026 result registers highest success rate
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 28 -- The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET)-2026 has registered the highest success rate since 2015, with the results announced by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) on Wednesday showing a sharp rise in the percentage of candidates qualifying the examination, revealed an analysis of the past results.
The examination was held after a gap of four years. The 2026 results have particularly brought relief and cheer among serving teachers, many of whom were required to qualify the TET following a Supreme Court order making the qualification mandatory for teachers appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education Act.
At the primary level (Classes 1 to 5), 571,435 of the 7,13,648 candidates who appeared for the 2026 UPTET qualified, resulting in a pass percentage of 80.07%. This is substantially higher than the previous best recorded since 2015.
In comparison, the primary-level pass percentage was 38.67% in 2021, 29.74% in 2019, 35.05% in 2018, 19.95% in 2017, 11.38% in 2016 and 24.85% in 2015. The upper-primary level (Classes 6 to 8) also witnessed a record performance. Of the 10,57,021 candidates who appeared in 2026, 7,59,513 qualified, resulting in a pass percentage of 71.85%.
The corresponding pass percentages at the upper-primary level were 28.33% in 2021, 11.46% in 2019, 33.12% in 2018, 7.88% in 2017, 11.03% in 2016 and 14.03% in 2015.
The UPTET was first conducted by the UP Board on November 13, 2011. Subsequently, the examination was conducted by the Examination Regulatory Authority office until 2022. The 2026 examination marked the first occasion when the newly constituted UPESSC conducted the test....
