LUCKNOW, Sept. 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh health department will now re-employ retired doctors from the defence services at government hospitals, on the lines of the state's existing policy for retired government doctors. "Provisions have been made to re-employ specialist and MBBS doctors retiring from defence services after superannuation, as retired PMHS cadre doctors are re-employed," Amit Kumar Ghosh, additional chief secretary (medical and health), said in a statement issued on Wednesday. He said the existing arrangement for re-employing MBBS doctors up to the age of 65 after retirement would remain unchanged. Ghosh said the recruitment process would be conducted on a contractual basis through walk-in interviews. A selection committee would be constituted for the re-employment of specialist doctors. The health department has extended the maximum age for re-employment of government doctors from 65 to 70 years on the directives of deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak. Re-employment will continue until the post is filled by a regular medical officer or for a period of one year, whichever is earlier. The tenure may subsequently be extended on a year-to-year basis, subject to the maximum age limit of 70 years....
