LUCKNOW, Sept. 29 -- The Uttar Pradesh government will provide modern play facilities at 17,519 co-located Anganwadi centres and Balvatikas across 40 districts. Funds amounting to Rs.87.60 crore have been approved for installing modern outdoor play equipment, a government spokesperson said. The facilities will support play, learning and physical development. Equipment such as slides, see-saws, swings, roundabouts and rocking boats will help children learn through activities and play. Procurement will be conducted transparently through the GeM portal. A monitoring mechanism will also be put in place, from district-level purchase committees to block-level task forces. Five types of modern outdoor play equipment will be installed. These include slides, see-saws, swings, roundabouts (standing MGRs) and rocking boats (two-seaters). The equipment will engage children in physical activities and create an attractive and enjoyable play environment. The government aims to ensure that learning in Balvatikas does not become a burden but a natural opportunity rooted in play and experience. "The installation of modern outdoor play equipment in 17,519 Anganwadi centres will offer children better opportunities to learn through play and activities.
