Prayagraj, April 13 -- The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh arrested a wanted accused, identified as Paramesh Patel, who was carrying a Rs.50,000 reward in connection with a woman's murder case in Pratapgarh district, officials said on Sunday. Patel, a resident of Auna village in Rae Bareli district, was arrested from Kanpur Dehat near the Barajod Toll Plaza on April 11 around 3.50 pm. The case is registered at Nawabganj police station in Pratapgarh, and the accused had been absconding. The STF operation was supervised by additional superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar Singh and led by inspector Shailendra Kumar Singh. The team acted on specific inputs regarding the accused's presence in Kanpur Dehat, conducting surveillance and successfully apprehending him. During interrogation, Patel reportedly told officials that he has been involved in politics since 2017 and runs a plastic pipe manufacturing unit. He claimed the murder case stemmed from a family land dispute, the STF said. The FIR in the case was originally registered on February 2, 2026. Earlier, three accused, Mahendra Singh Chauhan, Shivkumar and Vishal, had been arrested and sent to jail. Two others, Taufiq and Umashyam, surrendered before the court on March 10, 2026....
