UP's Mansi wins title in ranking badminton
LUCKNOW, July 16 -- Mansi Singh of Uttar Pradesh claimed the women's singles crown at the All-India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026 in Kochi, adding a major national title to her growing resume.
The week-long event attracted the country's top shuttlers, and Mansi emerged as the standout performer with a blend of technical precision, tactical intelligence, and steely composure.
Currently being trained at the SAI National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, Mansi from the opening rounds looked in control, using crisp footwork and varied shot-making to dismantle opponents.
Her ability to shift pace-mixing sharp net play with deep, angled clears-kept rivals off balance and showcased the all-court game she's been refining for several seasons. Throughout the draw she maintained calm under pressure, converting key points with calm decision-making rather than risky flair.
The final against Gujarat's Shreya Lele proved a gripping contest that went the distance. Mansi took the first game 15-13 with patient rallies and a few decisive cross-court winners. Shreya fought back to take the second 16-14, forcing a third game where margins were minimal.
In the decider, Mansi's tactical adjustments-targeting the backhand and shortening the rallies when necessary-paid dividends as she edged home 16-14.
