LUCKNOW, June 19 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) on Thursday organised a Food Heritage Walk through Lucknow's Chowk area to mark World Sustainable Gastronomy Day. Held under the 'Visit My State Uttar Pradesh' campaign, the event, officials said, sought to leverage Lucknow's status as a Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy to attract visitors interested in cultural experiences. Around 40 tourists, food enthusiasts, heritage lovers and social media influencers explored the lanes of Chowk, sampling traditional Awadhi cuisine and learning about the history associated with the area. Officials said the government was integrating cuisine, culture and craftsmanship to create immersive tourism experiences. According to UPSTDC, the walk covered landmarks, giving participants an insight into the city's culinary traditions and architectural heritage. Heritage guide Sheshank said the walk also highlighted lesser-known aspects of Lucknow's history, including stories of unsung revolutionaries and centuries-old temples in the Chowk area. htc...
