UP Police welfare body fetes achievers, launches 'Vaama Eco Champs' initiative
LUCKNOW, June 7 -- Vaama Saarthi, the family welfare association of Uttar Pradesh Police, honoured 438 meritorious children of serving police personnel who scored 90 per cent or more in High School and Intermediate examinations during the 2024-25 academic session.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Auditorium at the police headquarters on Saturday. The event was led by Meenakshi Singh, IRS, chairperson of Vaama Saarthi and wife of DGP Rajeev Krishna. The association also felicitated 235 students who secured admission to professional courses. Among them, 97 students gained admission to BTech programmes. A total of 103 students secured admission to MBBS courses. Twelve students joined MTech programmes, while five gained admission to MBA courses, including two in IIMs. Meenakshi Singh congratulated the students. The association launched the 'Vaama Eco Champs' initiative to promote environmental awareness among children. Students administered an environmental protection pledge, encouraging water conservation, tree plantation, reduced plastic use, proper waste disposal and protection of natural resources, flora and fauna.
DGP Rajeev Krishna said academic success should be accompanied by curiosity, resilience, confidence and the determination to achieve ambitious goals despite challenges. The programme also showcased Vaama Saarthi's educational outreach activities. In collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation, training was provided to 192 principals and teachers of Police Modern Schools.
