LUCKNOW, Aug. 9 -- The state government has launched an initiative aimed at the holistic development of youth by harnessing their potential and creating better opportunities in higher and vocational education, employment and entrepreneurship. Under the initiative, young people will regularly interact with officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) for motivation and career guidance, a government spokesperson said. Additional chief secretary, secondary education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, has directed the Director General of School Education, Uttar Pradesh, to ensure effective implementation and regular monitoring of the programme. All divisional commissioners have also been directed to periodically review the programme at their level. Instructions have been issued to the director of secondary education, all divisional joint directors of education (secondary) and district school inspectors. The latter will inform the concerned schools about the programme and facilitate coordination between the designated officers and school managements to ensure its smooth and effective implementation. Sharma said CS Goyal has directed district magistrates to ensure young IAS, IPS and IFS officers visit at least one intermediate school every month to interact with students.
