UP issues 17.94 lakh Ayushman cards; Bareilly tops state campaign
LUCKNOW, March 15 -- More than 17.94 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued under a special statewide campaign that began on January 15 and will run till April 15, the state government said on Saturday.
Bareilly topped the state with 1,12,855 cards issued during the campaign, followed by Jaunpur (83,042), Agra (76,702), Prayagraj (74,252), and Azamgarh (70,266).
Archana Verma, chief executive officer (CEO) of State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS), said Uttar Pradesh has become the leading state in the country for issuing Ayushman cards under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Around 5.64 crore cards have been issued in the state so far, enabling families to avail cashless treatment of up to Rs.5 lakh annually.
"Under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY), aimed at providing health security to senior citizens, Ayushman cards have been issued to about 25.70 lakh elderly people aged 70 years and above," she added....
