LUCKNOW, Oct. 3 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is revamping the training curriculum for 41,424 Home Guard recruits. It is introducing modules on cybercrime awareness, digital security and gender sensitisation to prepare them for emerging security and social challenges. The changes were introduced on the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They come as the recruitment process for the posts moves toward its final stage. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) on June 28 released the final answer key for the Home Guards Enrolment-2025 written examination. It also shortlisted candidates for document verification and physical standard tests. The written examination was conducted in April. Meanwhile, the revised training programme will introduce cybercrime awareness as a specific component of Home Guard training. Recruits will be taught to identify common forms of digital fraud and the precautions needed to protect the public. The syllabus will cover online fraud, fake calls and messages, suspicious links, social-media scams and precautions during digital transactions. Recruits will also be taught what to do if they or members of the public fall victim to cybercrime and how to approach the appropriate reporting mechanism. Home guard DG DK Thakur said the increasing use of digital media had also led to changes in cybercrime methods. This made digital-security awareness an important component of the training, he said. The revised curriculum will also include gender sensitisation. Recruits will be trained on equality, respectful behaviour and gender discrimination. Emphasis will be placed on appropriate conduct while dealing with women, children and other people in sensitive situations. Officials said adding technical and social subjects aimed to prepare the new recruits for the changing nature of these responsibilities.
