Lucknow, Sept. 30 -- The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Uttar Pradesh is set to get five drones with accessories and 326 body-worn cameras, besides handheld metal detectors, loudhailers, bluetooth speakers and smart-card and hologram machines, to strengthen surveillance, security checks and crowd management across the state's railway network. The state government sanctioned Rs.99.99 lakh to procure the equipment during the 2026-27 financial year. The procurement package combines aerial surveillance with equipment for documenting police operations and strengthening security screening at railway stations and trains. Of the total allocation, Rs.25 lakh has been earmarked for five drone sets (estimated at Rs.5 lakh each), while Rs.48.90 lakh will be spent on 326 body-worn cameras (estimated at Rs.15,000 each). The remaining funds will cover 120 handheld metal detectors for Rs.6.60 lakh, 121 handheld loudhailers for Rs.8.47 lakh and 301 bluetooth speakers for Rs.7.52 lakh....
