LUCKNOW, June 16 -- Contrasting the pre-2017 situation in Uttar Pradesh with the current scenario, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the State Forensic Institute is built on land reclaimed from the mafia. Speaking at the 'Triveni' Digital Democracy Dialogue, he said nine years ago, the situation in Uttar Pradesh was such that a notorious mafia figure had encroached on police land in the capital. Under the patronage of the then government, the mafia had become so powerful that the police lacked the courage to reclaim their own land, he added. "The mafia surrendered the land the moment they saw the 'double-engine' government's bulldozer. Today, the magnificent building of the State Forensic Institute stands on that very land," he said. The three-day event served as a platform for a national-level discourse on Uttar Pradesh's development journey and good governance, said a press statement issued by the state government. Adityanath addressed the concluding session and interacted with content creators. He noted that the State Forensic Institute has also emerged as a premier institution offering certificate, diploma, and degree courses in modern technologies. He also stated that the BrahMos missile is being manufactured in Lucknow under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Uttar Pradesh government provided approximately 200 acres of land free of cost for this purpose. "Witness the power of the BrahMos. It was deployed against Pakistan. What is the value of land compared to national security? While the land was provided for free, the annual production of around 150 BrahMos missiles will generate approximately Rs.135 crore in GST revenue for Uttar Pradesh," he said. New avenues for defence production have opened up in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Aligarh, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Manufacturing Corridor. Asim Arun, minister of state (independent charge) for Social Welfare and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare, addressing a session, said, "In a democracy, people can choose their leaders and public representatives. Along with this, law and equality are essential in society. The coming era will be driven by a digital revolution, for which people must keep learning." CM Adithyanath added that content creators have opened new avenues. The chief minister repeatedly reminds officials to seek public feedback on every new policy, and therefore social media is also used as a tool for feedback, he said....
