UP eyes global mango markets with buyer-seller meet, export push
LUCKNOW, July 5 -- On the second day of the three-day Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival-2026, organised by the UP government, a Mango Buyer-Seller Meet was held at Jan Bhawan in Lucknow on Saturday. The event was attended by governor Anandiben Patel, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and horticulture minister Dinesh Pratap Singh.
Mango exporters and producers also signed memorandum of understandings (MoU) during the meet to facilitate direct linkages between Uttar Pradesh's farmers and national as well as international buyers. The initiative aims to expand farmers' access to global markets while ensuring fair prices for their produce.
Horticulture minister Dinesh Pratap Singh noted that UP accounts for 26% of India's total mango production. He urged industrialists to set up food processing units and highlighted the state government's provision of subsidies of up to 50%.
The minister highlighted that the upcoming Jewar Airport is expected to facilitate mango exports and boost farmers' incomes. He noted that while horticultural crops are cultivated on just 9% of the state's total agricultural land, they account for 42% of total agricultural production and contribute 52% of the overall value of produce.
