UP Bar Council files FIR against 26 lawyers over fake degrees
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh Bar Council has lodged a first information report (FIR) against 26 advocates at Civil Lines police station in Prayagraj, alleging that they obtained enrolment as lawyers using forged educational certificates and marksheets.
The complaint was filed by UP Bar Council secretary RK Shukla, citing an Allahabad high court order dated June 3, under which the educational credentials of registered advocates were scrutinised.
During the verification process, degrees and marksheets submitted by several advocates were allegedly found to be fake or fraudulently obtained after being cross-checked with the concerned universities.
Based on the complaint, Civil Lines police registered a named first information report against 26 advocates and launched an investigation into the complaint filed the UP Bar Council secretary.
A senior police official said further action would be taken based on the evidence gathered and verification reports submitted by the Bar Council....
