Unique cyber-awareness drive undertaken in Lko's Kathwara village
Lucknow, June 17 -- In an effort to strengthen cyber awareness in rural areas, Psy-Naree and RT Cyber Academy organised a "Cyber Panchayat" in Kathwara village of Bakshi Ka Talab, bringing together villagers for a discussion on the growing threat of online fraud.
The session was led by cyber safety expert Rakshit Tandon, who explained how fraudsters target people through fake police and bank calls, OTP scams, digital arrest frauds, bogus job offers and investment schemes.
Villagers were advised never to share confidential details such as OTPs, PINs, passwords, CVV numbers or banking information.
The programme also highlighted the dangers of "mule accounts", where individuals unknowingly become part of cybercrime networks by allowing others to use their bank accounts.
Organisers stressed the importance of reporting cyber frauds immediately through the national cybercrime helpline, 1930.
Apart from financial losses, speakers discussed the emotional and mental stress faced by victims and urged communities to support rather than blame those who fall prey to scams.
Short films based on real cybercrime cases were screened to help villagers identify common fraud tactics.
A key highlight of the event was a Cyber Safety Pledge administered to the entire village.
Organisers said they aim to develop Kathwara into a cybercrime-free model village through sustained awareness, mental health and women empowerment initiatives....
