Varanasi, March 20 -- A slab of an under construction rail overbridge (ROB) on the Howrah-Gaya railway line near Banauli Khurd village in Chandauli district collapsed late Wednesday night, officials said, adding that two workers sustained minor injuries in the incident. Construction work was halted at the time of the incident as it occurred during the night, preventing any major casualties. The injured workers were rushed to a hospital, where they received treatment. Dhananjay, a labourer from Rohtas, Bihar, suffered a minor toe injury, while Anil, a labourer from Pilibhit, also sustained minor injuries. Following the incident, the administration swung into action. Sub-divisional magistrate Divya Ojha, circle officer Devendra Kumar and inspector Vijay Bahadur Singh reached the spot to assess the situation. Debris was cleared from the road using a JCB machine to restore movement. Officials confirmed that the bridge is being constructed by the UP Setu Nigam, and the damage occurred during the course of work. District magistrate Chandra Mohan Garg said that a team has been constituted to investigate the cause of the collapse. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry....
