U.P. irrigation dept gets possession of land near Delhi border
Lucknow, May 14 -- The Uttar Pradesh irrigation department has got possession of a large chunk of land on the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border after removing encroachments and resolving an ownership dispute with the Delhi government, Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh said on Wednesday. Giving details, Singh said the Head Works Division, Agra Canal, freed 10.2659 hectares belonging to the UP irrigation and water resources department from encroachment near Okhla area. The estimated value of the land is Rs.338 crore.
He also said the UP Revenue Board's order dated November 14, 2025 decided the ownership of 18.12 hectares of irrigation department land at Kaila village, Ghaziabad, in favour of the UP irrigation and water resources department. The estimated value of the land is approximately Rs.2205 crore.
At a meeting held between the UP chief minister and the Delhi lieutenant governor on April 8, 2025, it was unanimously accepted that the UP irrigation and water resources department owns 18.0064 hectares of land in Khasra No. 67 and 68, village Okhla, Delhi, valued at approximately Rs.1020 crore, he said.htc...
