U'khand: MBBS interns call off strike, PG docs' stir persists
Haldwani, Sept. 13 -- A group of around 735 MBBS interns in Haldwani and Dehradun have called off their strike for a stipend hike after the state cabinet increased their monthly stipend from Rs.17,000 to Rs.25,000. However, around 600 postgraduate (PG) doctors are continuing their protest, demanding a hike of stipend from Rs.70,000 to Rs.1.10 lakh.
Dr Rajdeep, who was leading the protest, said an agreement to end the strike was reached on Friday night.
"All MBBS interns in Haldwani and Dehradun have resumed their duties, including OPD and emergency services, from Saturday," he said.
A PG doctor from Dehradun, Dr Saket, said the protesting doctors perform duties similar to those of regular doctors and assist in emergency services as well as surgeries....
