Lucknow, March 3 -- Three persons were killed in two separate road accidents reported from the BBD and Banthra areas of Lucknow on Monday, police said. In the first incident, a 50-year-old man and his wife were killed after a speeding car rammed their motorcycle from behind in the BBD area on Monday evening. The deceased were identified as Devendra Kumar Verma (50), a native of Farsatipur Gadiya in Barabanki district, and his wife Sita Devi. Devendra worked in a factory in Lucknow and lived with his family in a rented house in the Behta area. Police said the couple had gone to Barabanki to visit a relative admitted to a hospital and were returning home around 5 pm. When they reached near Anora Kala, close to Goyal Hospital under BBD police station limits, a speeding car hit their motorcycle from behind. The impact threw both of them off the bike. Passersby informed the police, who rushed the injured couple to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The couple is survived by two children - a son, Aditya, and a daughter, Aditi. BBD inspector Ram Singh said the offending car has been seized and efforts are on to trace the driver, who fled the spot. In a separate incident, a 52-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a container truck in the Banthra area on Monday afternoon. According to police, the Banthra police station's mobile team was on routine patrol around 4.55 pm when they noticed a crowd gathered on the Lucknow-Kanpur Road. "On reaching the spot, they found that a motorcycle rider, identified as Ram Mohan Shukla (52), a resident of Unnao district, had been hit by a container truck. Due to the severity of the collision, Shukla died on the spot, police said in their statement....
