LUCKNOW, Aug. 6 -- Two traffic police personnel were suspended with immediate effect after a video purportedly showing them accepting a bribe from a motorist at Kamta crossing in Lucknow went viral on social media, police said on Wednesday. In the viral video, the two traffic personnel can allegedly be seen seated at the rear of a car driven by a middle-aged man who had reportedly been stopped for an alleged traffic violation. Bystanders surrounded the vehicle and questioned the policemen as the alleged exchange of money took place. Taking cognisance of the video, Lucknow Police said both personnel had been suspended pending an inquiry, the police said in a statement. Police have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspended personnel or specified the alleged traffic violation for which the vehicle had been stopped.
