MEERUT, Aug. 29 -- Two passengers, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed and around 20 others injured on Friday morning after a Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus carrying more than 70 passengers rammed into a dumper on NH-34 near Baghrai Cut in Khurja, Bulandshahr. The bus, travelling from Delhi to Kanpur via the Kaushambi depot, allegedly went out of control and crashed into the rear of a dumper that was negotiating a turn. Most passengers were travelling to their homes or relatives' houses to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. According to preliminary information, the bus left Delhi around 11:30pm on Thursday and reached the Baghrai Cut area in the morning when it crashed into the dumper ahead. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the bus, triggering panic among passengers, who screamed for help. Passers-by alerted police and emergency services following the accident. Police personnel and ambulance teams reached the spot and began rescue operations. Additional district magistrate Abhishek Singh and SP Rural Antariksh Jain, along with other senior administrative and police officials, also reached the site and reviewed the relief and rescue work. The injured were shifted to Jatia Government Hospital, MD Hospital and Kailash Hospital for treatment. Several passengers sustained serious injuries and required immediate medical attention. Doctors at Kailash Hospital declared seven-year-old Radhika dead after she was brought there for treatment. A 35-year-old woman, identified as Babli, also succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Around 20 injured passengers, including relatives and family members of the deceased, remain under treatment at different hospitals. Police have started an investigation into the crash. The damaged bus and dumper were later removed from the highway to restore traffic movement. Officials are examining how the bus lost control and whether other factors contributed to the accident....
