Two injured as bike chase turns violent in Prayagraj
Prayagraj, March 11 -- Two youths were injured after a motorcycle chase ended in firing and a crude bomb attack near a guest house in the Bairhana area late on Tuesday night. Police arrested two accused on Wednesday and launched a search for other suspects involved in the incident.
According to police, the incident began around 10.30 pm when three youths had gone to a petrol pump in Sohbatiabagh to refuel their motorcycle. While returning, they argued with a group of youths near a lane behind the Georgetown police station. The dispute soon escalated and the accused allegedly chased the trio on motorcycles. They intercepted them near a guest house in Bairhana and opened fire. Police said crude bombs were also hurled during the attack. Two of the youths were injured in the incident. As local residents gathered at the spot, the attackers fled after issuing threats.
After receiving information, a team from Kydganj police station launched a search operation. Police arrested two accused on Wednesday morning near the Parade Ground. Two illegal pistols, two live cartridges and a mobile phone were recovered from them. Police said one of the accused has several criminal cases registered against him at different police stations. An FIR has been registered and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects....
