Two held for using fake court order to secure vehicle release
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 10 -- Nagar Kotwali police in Pratapgarh have arrested two members of a fraudsters gang for allegedly obtaining the release of an impounded truck using a forged order allegedly issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court. Police said efforts are underway to trace two other gang members involved in the racket.
The accused have been identified as truck owner Rajesh Pal and his associate Mohd Saddam.
The case came to light after an overloaded truck, seized by the ARTO during a drive against overloaded vehicles in August and handed over to Sangramgarh police, was released on the basis of a forged court order. The vehicle had been fined Rs 80,000 by the ARTO.
According to police, truck owner Rajesh Pal, a resident of Singhni village in Sangipur, allegedly approached the gang to get the vehicle released. The gang allegedly prepared a fake release order carrying a forged signature of the CJM and used it to secure the truck's release from the police station.
Suspicion arose when a similar order was later produced to obtain the release of another seized truck. Police verified the document with ARTO officials and sought details from the CJM Court office. Court records revealed that no such case had ever been filed, indicating that the release order was forged.
Following a complaint lodged by the court clerk at Nagar Kotwali police station, a case was registered against the truck owner and the gang members involved.
Acting on the complaint, a police team led by sub-inspector Ankit Tiwari arrested Rajesh Pal and his associate, Mohd Saddam, a resident of Phulwari Teunga under the Nagar Kotwali area, on Friday. Both were produced for legal action....
