Rudrapur, Oct. 12 -- Udham Singh Nagar SSP Ajay Ganpati has attached two police outpost in-charges to the police lines in Rudrapur on Sunday for alleged negligence in conducting effective checking and preventing road accidents following a fatal crash in the Kunda police station area that left three people dead and four injured on Saturday. The accident took place at Badi Nahar under Kunda police station limits on Saturday evening when seven people from Ramnagar in Nainital district were travelling in a three-wheeler to Jaspur to attend a wedding function. A speeding truck rammed into the three-wheeler from the opposite direction, reducing it to scrap. Shamshida, 65, Shaukat Ali, 74, both from Ramnagar, and three-wheeler driver Shahzad, 35, a resident of Kunda, died on the spot. Hukumat, Ubra, Khurshida and Mohamadi sustained injuries and were admitted to the government hospital in Kashipur. The truck driver fled the spot, and police were searching for him. Taking a strict view of the accident and alleged lapses in checking, Ganpati ordered the removal of two outpost in-charges from their posts and their attachment to the police lines in Rudrapur. The officers are Mandi outpost in-charge sub-inspector Manoj Singh Dev and Shivrajpur Patti outpost in-charge sub-inspector Saurav Bharti, both under Kunda police station. The SSP said the two outpost in-charges had failed to check overloading in their areas. The three-wheeler had passed through their areas, but alleged negligence in checking contributed to the incident. He also said the Regional Transport Office had responsibility for checking such violations and its staff should have taken steps to prevent such incidents. In a separate accident on Saturday evening, 30-year-old Ushma Devi of Bisalpur in Pilibhit district died on the National Highway near Pulbhatta police station after a truck hit the motorcycle on which she was travelling.
