Two Air India Expressflights cancelled
Lucknow, Aug. 1 -- Two Air India Express flights from Lucknow to Delhi and Dubai, scheduled for take-off on Friday afternoon and early Saturday, respectively, were cancelled.
The flight (IX 2173) to Delhi was abruptly cancelled on Friday, causing inconvenience to 136 passengers at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport here and triggering protests inside the terminal.
The flight, scheduled to depart at 2pm, failed to take off at the designated time. According to airport sources, passengers were repeatedly informed that the flight was delayed, raising hopes that it would eventually depart.
Around 4.30pm, the airport display board suddenly showed the flight as cancelled. Following the announcement, travellers confronted airline staff and demanded an immediate explanation.
Airport sources said airline officials stepped in to pacify the passengers by offering them the option of a full refund or travel on an alternative flight to Delhi. Following discussions, all 136 passengers were eventually accommodated on another aircraft and flown to the national capital.
The airline has not officially disclosed the reason for the cancellation. Airport sources indicated that the disruption was due to operational reasons.
Meanwhile, Air India Express's Lucknow-Dubai flight (IX 193) scheduled to depart at 3.15 am on Saturday (August 1), has also been cancelled due to operational reasons, according to airport sources....
