Transformer snags, fallen poles lead to outages
Lucknow, June 2 -- Power cuts, transformer breakdowns, fallen electricity poles and technical faults led to protests in some localities of the state capital.
In Guru Nanak Nagar, Alambagh, residents gathered near a transformer late Sunday-Monday night after repeated power interruptions and delays in restoration work. Officials rushed to the spot and managed to pacify residents, assuring them of restoration of supply.
Strong winds damaged electricity infrastructure in some areas. Power department officials reported incidents of poles and trees falling on transmission and distribution lines.
In Vrindavan Sector 6A, an HT-LT line pole collapsed near Samia Apartments, disrupting supply to the entire feeder area.
In the IIM Road area, residents reported a blackout from around 4 pm until late at night.
Power cuts were also reported from Kalpana Residency Eco World in Mohanlalganj, Sunder Nagar, Alambagh, Faizullaganj, Bada Khurdan, Budheshwar-Para areas, Natkhera, Azad Nagar, Vishveshwar Nagar and the Chinhat area.
According to departmental sources, maintenance work at the Bani 33/11 KV substation required a temporary shutdown of multiple feeders during the day.
Later, a fault in the protection system at the Jaitikhera 33/11 KV substation resulted in all feeders being shut down until repairs could be completed....
