Lucknow, June 10 -- Two persons were burnt alive and two others sustained serious burn injuries after a trailer collided with a truck carrying poultry feed on the Lucknow-Sultanpur Highway, near Chaubisi, late on Tuesday night, police said. According to the police, the trailer rammed into the rear of the truck, triggering a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles. Four people, including the driver, were travelling in the trailer at the time of the accident. The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught fire within moments. The trailer driver and another occupant were trapped in the blaze and died on the spot. Police and fire department teams rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. One of the injured, identified as Manoj Kumar, 40, a resident of Nayakheda village in Nigohan area of Lucknow, was pulled out in critical condition and taken to a community health centre before being referred to Lucknow for advanced treatment. Officials said another victim was injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment. One of the bodies was found nearly six hours later during the cooling and clearance operation, buried beneath the poultry feed loaded in the truck. Anil Kumar Pandey, station house officer, Haidergarh, said the two deceased persons could not be identified due to the extent of burns. Their bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.
