MEERUT, May 22 -- The bodies of a utensil trader and his wife were discovered with bullet injuries on the terrace of their home in the main market area of Shahabad in Rampur district on Tuesday evening. The deceased were identified as Sunil Rastogi (55), and his wife Neha Rastogi (51). Their blood-soaked bodies were found on the terrace of the second floor of their residence, triggering chaos and concern among local residents. According to police, family members and neighbours rushed to the terrace after hearing gunshots. The couple's son, Piyush Rastogi, daughter, Krishi Rastogi, along with neighbours, found the couple lying dead. Circle officer Devkinandan and inspector Pradeep Kumar reached the scene along with a heavy police force and began an initial investigation. A forensic team was later called to examine the crime scene and collect evidence. Police said a .315 bore rifle and a steel rod were recovered from the spot. Police said all possible angles are being investigated and the exact cause or motive behind the deaths is yet to be established. Officials stated that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway. CO said, "Only one round was fired from the rifle.
