Rudrapur, July 4 -- A forest guard has been suspended and a forester attached to the sub-divisional office after an inquiry found negligence in monitoring illegal tree felling allegedly carried out by Nepalese timber smugglers in the Nakhatal forest area near the Indo-Nepal border in Udham Singh Nagar district, officials said on Friday. The action was taken after a complaint alleged that timber smugglers from Nepal had repeatedly crossed the international border into the Indian side, felled trees in the Nakhatal forest under the Khatima forest range and smuggled the timber back across the border. htc...
