VARANASI, Sept. 29 -- Three people died after coming into contact with a high-tension wire while setting up a wedding tent on a rooftop in the Islamabad Nagar under the Dakshin Tola police station area of Mau on Monday, police said. The incident occurred while local residents were making preparations for a wedding. Police said that three people died in the accident, and one youth suffered burn injuries. The deceased have been identified as Mahmood, 22, Irfan, 24, and Kamil, 24. They were local residents and were working at the wedding venue. The work was underway to set up a tent for a wedding ceremony in Islamabad Nagar when Kamil and Irfan, residents of the Zafarnagar neighborhood, began installing iron pipes for the tent. Suddenly, a strong wind sent the pipes flying. As soon as the groom's brother, Mahmood, grabbed the pipe to steady it, it struck a high-tension wire passing 10 feet above, causing a loud explosion. The locals had the electricity supply cut off and rushed to the roof. They immediately rushed the three victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. City circle officer Nitesh Pratap Singh said that all three bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Police forces from four police stations have been deployed to prevent any disturbance.
