Three killed as speeding truck rams motorcycle
LUCKNOW, April 27 -- Three people, including a mother and her son, were killed after a speeding truck collided head-on with a motorcycle in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district late Saturday night, police officials on Sunday.
The accident occurred near Angrasi turn on the Sitapur-Gola road under Ramkot police station limits, about 30 km from the district headquarters. According to eyewitnesses, the impact was so severe that all three bike riders were flung nearly four feet into the air before landing on the road.
Himanshu Pandey (28) and his mother Rekha (50) died on the spot due to critical injuries. Another woman, Sunita Bajpai (45), who was also riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the district hospital, where she later succumbed during treatment.
Police said the victims were returning from a wedding function in Lakhimpur when the incident took place. The collision was so intense that the motorcycle was completely mangled.
Himanshu, who had completed his intermediate education, was reportedly helping his father Ramji Pandey in their cloth shop while searching for a job.
Police have seized the truck involved in the accident, while the driver fled the scene and remains at large.
A 35-year-old man, Satendra Kumar, and his wife Sarita Devi (32) died, while his sister-in-law Maina Devi was injured after a speeding SUV hit their motorcycle at Bhikhampur crossing under Mitauli police limits late Saturday night. The trio were returning from a wedding when the Thar rammed their bike. The driver fled, abandoning the vehicle. Police rushed the injured to hospital, where the couple were declared dead....
