Three die after suspected liquor consumption, probe on
LUCKNOW, April 5 -- Three men died after being brought unconscious to a private hospital in Meerut's Daurala area late Friday evening, reportedly after consuming liquor, police said on Saturday, adding that the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
According to Meerut Police, the Daurala police station received information from Aryavart Hospital on Friday evening that three people had been brought in unconscious after reportedly consuming alcohol. Acting on the alert, the station in-charge along with a police team rushed to the hospital, where all three men succumbed during treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Baburam (60), Jitendra (45), and Ankit (32). Police said the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed by doctors.
"The cause of death remains unclear at this stage. A postmortem examination is being conducted, and viscera has been preserved for forensic analysis," the police said in an official statement.
The preserved samples will be sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis to determine whether any toxic or poisonous substance was involved.
Senior police officers, along with local police and a forensic team, inspected both the hospital and the suspected spot linked to the incident.
Samples of all suspicious materials found at the scene have been collected for scientific examination.
Given the seriousness of the case, four police teams have been formed to investigate all possible causes behind the deaths.
