Three booked under Gangsters' Act following alleged cow slaughter
PRAYAGRAJ, March 14 -- The Kokhraj police on Friday booked three persons under the Gangsters' Act for their alleged involvement in cow slaughter and illegal transportation of cattle in Kaushambi district.
The action was taken after approval from the district magistrate, following which a search operation has been launched to arrest the accused, officials said.
"Action under the Gangsters' Act has been taken against three accused involved in cow slaughter and illegal transportation of cattle. The Kokhraj SHO has been directed to ensure their early arrest, and the police will soon apprehend them," said additional superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar Singh.
Station house officer (SHO) of Kokhraj police station, Chandrabhushan Maurya, said that Rehan, son of Mustafa alias Banne and a resident of Chamrupur, had formed a gang engaged in illegal activities. Ishrar, son of Ansar and a resident of Nanmai, and Abdullah Khan, a resident of Amas in Gaya district of Bihar, are said to be active members of the gang.
According to police records, Rehan has 12 cases registered against him at different police stations for cow slaughter and illegal transportation of cattle, while Ishrar and Abdullah Khan have two cases each registered against them. Police officials also said that the gang was involved in a cow slaughter incident in the Kokhraj area in 2024.
Inspector Maurya said the accused had shown no improvement in their activities, creating an atmosphere of fear among local residents.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, action under the Gangsters' Act was initiated after approval from district magistrate Amit Pal Sharma, he said.
