Meerut, Sept. 26 -- Three men were arrested on Friday after a young man and woman were allegedly surrounded, assaulted and robbed by a group in a forested area near Siddhbaroliya temple in Badaun's Ughaiti area, police said. The woman was allegedly molested and filmed, with the accused threatening to circulate the video. The incident reportedly took place on September 17 when the two had gone to the forest near Siddhbaroliya temple in Sarai Baroliya village. According to police, Sugendra Kumar Yadav, Bechain Jatav, Chhote Jatav, Jeetesh and some unidentified persons reached the spot and allegedly surrounded the couple. The accused allegedly abused and assaulted them before snatching Rs.1,500. The woman was allegedly molested and a video of the incident was recorded, police said. Police said the victims did not initially report the incident due to concerns over social stigma. The matter came to the police's attention on September 24, following which officials contacted the complainant and registered a case on the basis of his complaint. An FIR was registered under Sections 61(2), 75, 76, 309(4), 115(2), 352 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), besides Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. Ughaiti police arrested 24-year-old Sugendra Kumar Yadav of Swarupur village, 40-year-old Bechain Jatav and 32-year-old Chhote Jatav, both residents of Sarai Baroliya. SSP Ankita Sharma said the role of Jeetesh, son of Kallu, and some unidentified suspects was also being investigated.
