Temple donation row part of SP-Congress conspiracy: Pathak
VARANASI, June 27 -- Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday alleged that the controversy over alleged irregularities in temple donations was part of a conspiracy by the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress to defame Sanatan Dharma and tarnish Ayodhya's image.
Speaking to reporters in Mirzapur after offering prayers at the Maa Vindhyavasini temple, Pathak said the SP and the Congress were indulging in appeasement politics and targeting Sanatan Dharma to secure Muslim votes.
Responding to questions about the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple, Pathak said, "Donations were also collected for the Babri Masjid. No one is asking what happened to that money." He urged the media to put the same question to opposition leaders.
When asked why action had allegedly been taken only against junior employees, Pathak said the police would conduct an impartial investigation. "The police administration is carrying out a fair investigation. Strict legal action will be taken in the Ayodhya donation theft case," he said, adding that the BJP government follows a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
He further alleged that the opposition was attempting to weaken Sanatan culture by raising questions about Sanatan Dharma and described the controversy as a conspiracy to malign Ayodhya.
Later, while addressing an intellectual convention, Pathak also announced measures to improve facilities for pilgrims visiting Maa Vindhyavasini Dham. He said the newly developed Maa Vindhyavasini Corridor had made darshan more convenient for devotees and that healthcare services in Vindhyachal were being strengthened.
An ambulance will be stationed round the clock at Maa Vindhyavasini Dham, and all healthcare-related requirements in the area will be addressed on a priority basis, he said....
