PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 13 -- A 15-year-old boy died after being bitten by a suspected venomous creature while sleeping at his home in Vaishpur village under the Mandhata police station area of Pratapgarh. According to police, Naitik, the eldest child of Manoj Kumar Rawat, was asleep on Sunday night when he felt a sharp bite on his leg. He woke up and informed family members that some creature had bitten him. His relatives immediately rushed him to the Mandhata Community Health Centre, where doctors referred him to the Medical College due to his deteriorating condition. When his health failed to improve, he was taken to a hospital in Prayagraj, where he died during treatment. After receiving information about the incident, police reached the village, took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Station Officer Dhananjay Rai Singh said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination and further legal proceedings are underway. A field officer of the Land Development Cooperative Bank and his car driver were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Organization on Monday for allegedly accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe from a loan applicant. The action followed a complaint by Vijaykant Bind, a resident of Sujaha village in Raniganj, who had applied for a loan of Rs 2.70 lakh from the Land Development Cooperative Bank Society. Bind alleged that field officer Harishchandra Chaurasia demanded a 10 per cent commission to clear his loan application. A 30-year-old man was killed after being run over by a speeding mini-truck while crossing the Lucknow-Varanasi Highway at Prithviganj market under the Dehat Kotwali police station area in Pratapgarh on Sunday night. The deceased, identified as Dayaram alias Chandbabu Patel of Bhagesara village, was crossing the road when the vehicle, heading from Raniganj towards Bhupiyamau, hit him and fled the scene.
