Dehradun, Sept. 27 -- Uttarakhand Police have registered a case against a teacher at Central Sanskrit University's Shri Raghunath Kirti Campus in Devprayag following allegations of obscene acts and inappropriate physical contact involving two female students, including a minor, officials said. The university has suspended the teacher pending investigation. Devprayag SHO Amarjeet Singh said the accused was identified as Dr Suryamani Bhandari, a teacher at the campus. The alleged incident took place on August 22, 2026. The two students informed their families, following which their relatives approached the university administration, police said. The matter was initially examined through an internal inquiry. On September 21, the campus director and head of the institution submitted a written complaint to police, following which an FIR was registered against Bhandari under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Singh said. Police said the allegations were being investigated and evidence examined. Meanwhile, the university suspended Bhandari and shifted him to the campus guest house pending the investigation....
