Talk on 'Fatty liver: Real stories and solutions'
LUCKNOW, April 19 -- On the occasion of World Liver Day, the department of hepatology at SGPGIMS organised a focused awareness programme titled "Fatty Liver and Obesity: Real Stories, Real Solutions" at the DK Chhabra Auditorium in the institute's library complex on Saturday. The event highlighted the growing public health challenge of fatty liver disease, closely linked with obesity and modern lifestyle habits.
Aligned with this year's World Liver Day theme emphasising healthy habits for a healthy liver, the programme brought together patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to discuss prevention and management strategies. PGI director Professor Radha Krishna Dhiman addressed the audience, underscoring the rapid rise of fatty liver disease and its strong association with sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary habits and obesity.
Diet experts elaborated on recommended dietary plans and healthier food choices for patients, stressing the importance of balanced nutrition and lifestyle modification in improving liver health.
The department of Critical Care Medicine at SGPGIMS organised a state-level Continuing Medical Education (CME) and workshop on "Feeding a Critically Ill Patient" at the HG Khurana Auditorium on Saturday.
The academic event focused on addressing hospital malnutrition, a major yet often under-recognised factor contributing to increased morbidity and mortality among critically ill patients.
More than 100 delegates from across Uttar Pradesh, including resident doctors, nutritionists, and nursing staff, participated in the programme.
Expert speakers from KGMU, RMLIMS, SGPGIMS and Era's University delivered lectures on key aspects of clinical nutrition, including early initiation of feeding in hospitalised patients, immunonutrition, appropriate routes of nutritional support, and specialised nutrition strategies for patients with acute liver failure and oncology cases....
