LUCKNOW, June 6 -- A long-running money dispute took a violent turn in the state capital when assailants allegedly fired multiple rounds at a parked SUV near Tehsil Sadar underpass in Gomti Nagar Extension over a monetary dispute, prompting police to launch a manhunt for the accused, the police stated on Friday. The incident occurred around 10:30pm on June 4 when an SUV parked near the underpass came under attack. The vehicle's occupants, including Shubham Tripathi, Vijay Yadav and Sonu Yadav, had stepped out and moved towards the top of the underpass moments before the firing. As a result, no one was inside the vehicle when the attackers opened fire, according to an official release. Police teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and cordoned off the area. Senior officers, including the ADCP (east), inspected the crime scene. Investigators found several bullet marks on the vehicle and recovered spent cartridges from the spot. Based on a written complaint by Shubham Tripathi, a resident of Kharhgapur, a case was registered on Friday against Priyanshu Singh, Suhel Ghazi, Rahul Singh and one other person at Gomti Nagar Extension police station under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 324 (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said. During preliminary investigation, cops found that both parties had been involved in a dispute over money for some time. Investigators suspect the accused targeted the vehicle as part of the ongoing conflict. Police collected forensic evidence from the scene and began examining CCTV footage from nearby locations. Investigators are also relying on technical surveillance and electronic evidence to establish the movement of the accused before and after the incident.
