Rudrapur, June 11 -- A joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) and Udham Singh Nagar police led to the recovery of four firearms, including two semi-automatic weapons, 237 cartridges and six arms licences from a parked car in Kashipur on Tuesday night. Police have identified the licence holders and launched raids to arrest them. According to Ajay Singh, senior superintendent of police (STF), the recovery was made following a specific intelligence input about a suspicious vehicle parked in a private parking area in the Katoratal locality of Kashipur. "STF received information that a car parked in a private parking lot in Katoratal area of Kashipur contained arms. A joint STF and police team seized the vehicle and conducted a search. Four firearms, cartridges and arms licences were recovered from the car," said Singh. The recovery comes amid an ongoing STF probe into alleged procurement of weapons using fake arms licences.
