STF arrests Rs.1L rewardee wanted under Gangsters Act
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested a wanted accused carrying a Rs.1 lakh reward in Prayagraj, officials said on Sunday. The accused, Sunil Kumar Bhartiya alias Guddu, was wanted in a case registered under Sections 2 and 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, they added.
STF Prayagraj field unit deputy superintendent of police Shailesh Pratap Singh said Bhartiya was arrested around 8.45 am on Sunday following a tip-off about his movement in the city. He was apprehended from a spot about 50 metres behind Jai Gurudev Ashram towards Bela Kachhar, under Dhoomanganj police station limits, he added.
During interrogation, Bhartiya allegedly confessed to involvement in several theft and looting incidents with his associates in 2019. Cases related to these incidents are registered at the GRP and Phaphamau police stations, officials said.
Following his arrest, he was handed over to the local police. Further legal proceedings and interrogation are underway, officials said....
