STF arrests Rs 50k reward accused
VARANASI, April 6 -- A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 was arrested from North West Delhi on April 4, the STF said. Identified as Santosh Paswan, the accused is a resident of Shalimar Bagh, Saraswati Vihar, North West Delhi. He was currently living in Faridabad, Haryana.
Under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (STF) Rajkumar Mishra, an STF team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Navendra Kumar carried out the arrest. The accused was wanted in a cow smuggling case registered at Chandauli police station in Chandauli.
The STF stated that during interrogation, Santosh Paswan, approximately 31 years old, revealed that he earlier worked as an e-rickshaw driver in Delhi, where he came in contact with a person named Vishal Mandal. Together, they planned and financed a Tata pickup (HR-3BAD-0905) to be used for illegal animal smuggling. Animals were transported to Bengal via Bihar using the vehicle.
On May 11, 2023, while transporting cattle to Takri, his accomplices were arrested by Chinchi police station and sent to jail. Since then, Santosh Paswan had been absconding, and a reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for his arrest. To evade capture, he kept changing locations and hid in border areas of Delhi and Haryana. Further details about his activities are being gathered.
A case (No. 128/2003) was registered against Santosh Paswan at Thanachi district under Sections 3/5A/B/Gaurav 11 of the Animal Husbandry Act, 2001. Further legal proceedings are being carried out by the local police....
