LUCKNOW, July 18 -- The UP Special Task Force (STF), in coordination with the Maharashtra Police, arrested a man wanted in an attempt-to-murder case registered in Bhiwandi, Thane district in Maharashtra, from his native village in UP's Gonda district. The accused, Rohit Pandey, was apprehended on Friday from Nagra Buzurg village under Chhapia police station following a joint intelligence-based operation by the STF's Gorakhpur field unit and the Narpoli Police of Maharashtra. According to the STF, Pandey was wanted in a crime registered at Narpoli police station under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act. Investigators alleged that he and his associates attacked one Mohit Kumar with sharp-edged weapons with the intention to kill him. After Maharashtra Police sought assistance in tracing the absconding accused, the STF launched surveillance and intelligence gathering under the supervision of deputy SP DK Shahi. During the operation, the team received specific information that Pandey had returned to his home in Gonda. Acting swiftly, the joint team raided the location and arrested him around 4.30pm on Friday. Pandey was produced before local authorities in Gonda, while the Maharashtra Police initiated transit remand proceedings to take him to Bhiwandi for further investigation....
