Dehradun, July 7 -- Uttarakhand government on Monday approved proposals worth Rs.60 crore for the scientific rejuvenation of the Garud Ganga and Western Nayar rivers, while reviewing the progress of river and spring conservation projects across the state under the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA), officials said.
The decisions were taken during the seventh meeting of the State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) of SARRA, chaired by Secretary, Watershed Management Department Dilip Jawalkar, at the Secretariat here. DPRs worth more than Rs.120 crore have already been prepared for these 13 rivers, with implementation underway on several approved projects while others have received administrative clearances. The meeting also reviewed the progress of GIS-based mapping of water sources across the state.
Officials said SARRA has completed digital mapping of 4,490 water sources using its 'Bhagirath' mobile application.
