LUCKNOW, March 17 -- Facing a shortage of drivers in its fleet, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has announced a recruitment drive to engage 250 bus drivers on contract in the Lucknow region. The selection process will be held between March 23 and March 25 through e-testing and counselling at the bus station comfort house near Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. According to the official notice issued by the regional office of UPSRTC, applicants who fulfil the eligibility conditions can participate in the process by appearing with required documents at the venue. Candidates applying for the post must have passed at least Class 8 and should be at least 23 years and six months old. The minimum height requirement is 5 feet 3 inches. In addition, applicants must possess a valid heavy motor vehicle driving licence that is at least two years old, as the recruitment is meant for operating roadways buses. UPSRTC has also included insurance coverage for drivers engaged under the scheme. In case of an accident leading to death during duty, a compensation of Rs.7.5 lakh will be provided. Immediate financial assistance of Rs.10,000 in case of injury and up to Rs.25,000 for treatment in serious cases has also been mentioned in thenotification. The recruitment will begin with screening through e-testing and counselling. Selected candidates will then be sent for training at the Pratapgarh training institute of UPSRTC.
